Privacy Policy
Effective: October 25, 2026
AXIRN (“the app”) is a sensor instrument for iPhone and iPad. It reads your device's sensors and shows the readings on your screen. This policy explains what the app reads, where that data goes, and what stays on your device.
The short version
- Nothing you see in AXIRN is sent to us. We do not run servers, and the app has no account, analytics, advertising, crash reporting, tracking or third-party SDKs.
- Your readings stay on your device. They are processed in memory while a screen is open and are not uploaded.
- AI runs on the device only. When Foundation Models (Apple Intelligence) is available, questions and the readings you attach go to Apple's on-device language model and never leave the device. No cloud model is used.
- Face data never leaves the device. Face Detection and Face Tracking process camera frames live, in memory, and nothing about your face is stored, uploaded or shared. See Face data and the TrueDepth camera below.
What the app reads, and what happens to it
Every source is used only while you use it, and each one can be switched off in Settings › Data Access.
| Source | What is read | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Motion, compass, barometer, orientation | Accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, attitude, heading, pressure, altitude | Shown on screen; kept in memory only |
| Motion & Fitness | Pedometer counts and the activity Core Motion recorded over the last 7 days | Shown on screen; daily totals may be saved on the device for the widget |
| Location | Coordinates, altitude, speed, accuracy | Shown on screen; kept in memory only, never uploaded |
| Camera | Live preview frames for Camera Feed, Attitude, Face Detection, Face Tracking and LiDAR | Processed live; never recorded, saved or uploaded |
| Face data (Face Detection, Face Tracking) | Face position, landmarks and head pose; on TrueDepth devices also the ARKit face mesh and expression values | Drawn on screen live, in memory only; never stored, uploaded or shared. See Face data and the TrueDepth camera |
| Microphone | Input level (loudness) only | Processed live; no audio is recorded, saved or uploaded |
| Bluetooth | Advertisements from nearby Bluetooth LE devices: name, signal strength and advertised codes | Kept in memory and dropped 30 seconds after a device goes silent; the app never connects to devices |
| Apple Health (read only) | Steps, sleep, heart rate, workouts, VO₂ max, blood oxygen, as already recorded in Health (for example by Apple Watch) | Shown on screen; daily values may be saved on the device for the widget. The app never writes to Health and never measures these itself. See Apple Health data |
| Battery and device state | Charge level, charging state, thermal state | Shown on screen |
| Speech | What you say, only while the Speech screen is open | Transcribed on the device to show the text and to open a sensor you name. Audio is not recorded, saved, or uploaded. If the on-device speech model for your language is not installed, iOS downloads that model from Apple |
| Siri | Permission status only | Nothing is recorded |
The app asks for each permission when you open the screen that needs it, or when you tap Allow in onboarding or Data Access. You can change any permission at any time in iOS Settings.
On-device AI (Foundation Models)
The Foundation Models screen uses Apple's on-device system language model when your device supports Apple Intelligence and it is turned on.
- Your question and, only when the READINGS switch is on, the current live readings are sent to the on-device model. The exact lines that were sent are shown under your question.
- The model runs on your device. Requests are not sent to us, to Apple's servers or to any other service.
- The conversation is held in memory and cleared when you tap Clear or leave the screen.
- If the model is not available, the screen says why and nothing is sent.
Face data and the TrueDepth camera
AXIRN has two face tools: Face Detection, and Face Tracking, which uses the TrueDepth camera on iPhones that have one.
- What face data the app uses, and for which feature. Face Tracking on the front camera uses Apple's ARKit face tracking. ARKit uses the TrueDepth camera's depth information to give the app a 3D face mesh (face geometry), the head's position and rotation, and facial expression values (blend shapes, such as how far the eyes or mouth are open). Face Detection, and Face Tracking on the back camera, use Apple's Vision framework to find face bounding boxes, facial landmark points (eyes, brows, nose, lips, face outline) and head angle from ordinary camera frames, with no depth data. AXIRN does not read, save or export the raw TrueDepth depth map. This data is used only while a face tool is open, or while one is pinned to the Home screen and visible, and only to draw the face outline, mesh, landmarks and the readouts next to them on your screen. If you ask the on-device Foundation Models assistant a question with READINGS on while Face Detection is running, the face count, face size and detection confidence may be included; that request also stays on the device.
- On device only. All face data is processed on your iPhone. None of it is sent to us, to Apple or to any server.
- Not shared. Face data is not shared with any third party. The app contains no third-party SDKs, analytics or advertising code.
- Retention and deletion. Face data is held in memory only for the current camera frame and is replaced by the next frame. It is deleted from memory as soon as you leave the face tool, unpin it, or the app goes to the background. It is never written to disk, saved to the photo library, included in widget data, backed up or synced to iCloud. The app does not record video or take photos.
- Not used for advertising, marketing, profiling or identification. Face data is never used to identify or recognize a person, for authentication, for advertising or marketing, to build a profile, or to train any model.
- Your control. Camera access is requested only when you open a face tool or pin one. You can turn the face tools off in Settings › Data Access, or turn off camera access in iOS Settings at any time.
Apple Health data
- What is read. With your permission, AXIRN reads these types from Apple Health (HealthKit): steps, sleep, heart rate, workouts, VO₂ max and blood oxygen (oxygen saturation). The app only reads; it never writes or changes Health data.
- Where it comes from. AXIRN does not measure any of these with iPhone sensors. Heart rate, blood oxygen and VO₂ max are values that Apple Watch (or another device or app you allowed) already recorded in Apple Health. AXIRN only displays them. When Health has no value, the app shows that there is no data and never estimates one.
- What it is used for. Health data is used only to show your values and their daily history on your screen, in the AXIRN widget if you choose a Health source, and, if you ask, in an on-device Foundation Models answer.
- Not sold, not used for advertising. Health data is never sold, shared with third parties, or used for advertising, marketing or data mining.
- Not sent off the device. The app does not upload Health data to us or to any server, and it does not use iCloud or CloudKit to store or sync it. Apple Health itself manages its own data and sync.
What is stored on your device
- Settings: appearance, units, sounds, Data Access switches, alert rules, dashboard pins, the widget source, onboarding status and the model prompt.
- Widget data: the latest slow readings for the chosen widget source and up to seven daily totals, kept in an App Group container shared only with AXIRN's own widget.
This data does not leave the device through the app. It may be included in your own iCloud or computer backup of the device, under Apple's terms. Deleting the app deletes it. Data in Apple Health stays in Health.
Notifications
Alerts (for example, battery below a threshold) are local notifications created on the device while the app is open. No notification server is used.
Apple services
The app relies on Apple frameworks that process data on the device. The Speech screen transcribes on the device; the only related network request is iOS downloading a missing speech model from Apple, and that download does not include what you said. See Apple's privacy policy at https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/ for how Apple handles those requests.
Children
The app does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children, because it collects no personal information at all.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will ship with an app update and show a new effective date. A change that sends data off the device would be described here before it ships.
